Transeuropean investigations yielded that many people in the EU do not study or learn in other
countries, because the recognition and transparency of qualifications within the EU is missing.
This situation hardens itself because
- the number of qualifications are increasing worldwide
- very different national qualification systems and development structures exist
- the existing systems are subject to permanent changes.
In order to dismantle these hindrances, the EU introduced several tools, to ease the transmission
of qualifications and competences for academic and professional purposes
On behalf of European development institutions, the European Committee for Quality Assurance has
now created a quality standard valid throughout Europe. All European development institutions
now have the possibility to accredit their institution, teachers, learning and training concepts.
